⚠️SoS: Updating your billing address to meet a new regulatory requirement

Dear Friend of Sanity,

I am writing to you because of an emergency. As of June 1, all non-Indian paid monthly/annual subscriptions to Sanity are failing because of a regulation that requires updating international subscribers' full names and billing addresses. I was not prepared for this shock, and if not remedied it can wreck Sanity and my livelihood as an independent creator 😭.

Here's what you can do to help; it will only take you a minute

• If you are a paying subscriber based outside India making a recurring monthly or annual payment, or you use a non-Indian card for your payment, please update your details in this Google form.
• Please write to me if you are not sure whether this applies to you.

As always, I will not share your information with anyone else.

More details on the regulation

Neither Ghost, the platform on which Sanity is hosted, nor Stripe, the payment gateway that processes your payments, collects addresses by default. The regulation is now blocking all new subscriptions as well as all monthly and annual subscription renewals for international subscribers, or those who use cards not issued in India. Once you fill in your details, I will have to manually add each address in Stripe. You can read more on this link.

PS: I am currently at my parents' home to see my father who's had a fracture from a freak accident. Thankfully, bigger danger averted. But the heat here is infernal, routinely crossing 45 C/110 F. We need to address the subject of heatwaves and their impact on mental health after I return from my season break. Let me know if you have ideas.
